A few days ago, Mike got his ninth interview offer from Rosalind Franklin in Chicago, Illinois. I was very excited about this at first, thinking that this might be our chance to live near Tim, Jessica, and Jackson! Sadly, however, I soon found out that Rosalind Franklin is far more expensive than University of Miami ($12,000 more per year and rising!) and is not nearly as good of a school (Miami is a top 50 medical school and Rosalind Franklin isn't even ranked). So, once again Mike is withdrawing from consideration to not waste money on a plane ticket.
As for the Miami vs. Boca debate, we went down for a visit over MLK Jr. day weekend to decide. After this trip, we feel that Boca Raton is far superior to Miami. Boca is beautiful with lots of outdoor seating, georgeous beaches, has good traffic, is closer to my parent's house, and most importantly is very dog-friendly and family-friendly. As an added bonus, Hollywood, Florida (about 20 mins south of Boca) has an off leash dog beach! Miami is very crowded, is not very dog friendly, and has horrible traffic that would drive me insane. Also, the only area that we would want to live, we could not afford. If we do not hear anything good from UF or UCF by early March, we are going to start looking for places to live in Boca Raton.
