Jonah Timothy Eley

The new baby boy has a name, Jonah Timothy Eley! Here's the update on Jonah's health that Nathan emailed me:

"The NICU staff has determined that Baby Jonah has Respiratory Distress Syndrome which is due to immaturity of the lungs, and is fairly common for pre-term white males. He is currently on a ventilator, which allows the nurse to apply synthetic “surfactant” directly into his lungs which will help them develop outside of the womb. Additionally, Jonah is being provided with air that has a higher concentration of oxygen; he is currently down to needing a 40% concentration of O2, but has needed as high as a 50% concentration to maintain his blood oxygen level (note: 21% is the concentration in air normally). This is a common treatment and the doctor and nursing staff continue to reassure us that he is getting better and will steadily improve over the coming days."

I'm so glad that Jonah is steadily getting better and I can't wait to meet the little guy.
