Sarah came over to Orlando on Friday to go to Disney's Animal Kingdom with Michael and me. We had a blast! I had been to Animal Kingdom about 10 years ago right after they opened, but it has improved a lot since then. The Kilimanjaro Safari was fantastic. We got to see lots of really neat African animals and the scenery was beautiful. The shows were really great too. The Festival of the Lion King had great music and amazing performers. I especially enjoyed the acrobatic monkeys (a combination of trapeze, trampoline, and bar gymnastics) and the Hawaiian style fire dancer who lit the stage on fire at one point. Finding Nemo the musical was also fun. The songs were a little campy, but the sets were beautiful and the costumes were really neat. They were done in a style very similar to the Lion King Broadway musical. I can't wait until my nephews (and soon-to-be niece) are old enough to go to Disney!
We finished up the perfect day with rental movies and Chinese food that my wonderful husband was kind enough to go pick up, while Sarah and I got cleaned up and rested our tired feet. The whole day made for a much needed break from the constant grind of graduate school. I think we're going to go to Disney's Hollywood Studios in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!
