Iowa Trip

I just wanted to let everyone know how my trip to Iowa went. My interview was on Wednesday, so I arrived in Iowa Tuesday afternoon. I was able to stay with our cousin Shannon (Fleming) Ortiz and her husband Elias. They were so much fun and were great hosts. They showed me around Iowa City for a couple days and really made me feel at home there. If I get good news from the University of Iowa, we will strongly consider Iowa as a place to live. For anyone who hadn't heard yet, Shannon is the latest pregnant Fleming. She had a doctor's appointment while I was in town, and she told me afterward that she had gotten to hear her baby's heartbeat for the first time, and was really excited.

As far as the medical school part of this, it UI looks like a great school, and I think my interview went fairly well there. I may not know for a while what their decision about me is, unfortunately. And for anyone who is wondering, Case Western did what I expected and put me on hold, so they will review me again January-ish. I will try to keep everyone updated on how things are going, but it looks like another long year of waiting.

Shannon and I also decided that the Fleming Family needs to start a tradition of some kind of family reunions. Since we are running out of Flemings to marry off, we will need some other excuse to get our extended family to travel and see each other. If anyone has any great ideas about how to do this, please post them on the main blog so we can get a discussion going.
