I Guess I'm a Work at Home Mommy Now

A little after Valentine's Day, I got inspired to create a cone-shaped, paper St. Patrick for James on Photoshop. I had so much fun making him that I thought, "Why not make a St. Nicholas as well?" Then it hit me. I could expand the project to include many more saints and maybe even compile them into a paper-doll/punch-out type craft book. It was my eventual goal to at least send them to a few christian book publishers and see what happened.

Well, Moms-Night-Out at the church came around again and I decided to take St. Patrick and St. Nicholas with me to show to a few of my friends. They loved them and insisted that I show them to the director of the youth programs at Bethesda. As coincidence had it, the youth director stopped by our Moms-Night-Out a little while later on her way home from a meeting. She loved them as well. This morning, she sent me an email stating that she would like to set up a meeting with me about the church buying some of my Paper Saints to use with the youth program next year.

I had originally planned on taking my time with this project, but now I need to pick up the pace. As well as working on creating more Paper Saints, I now have to research copyrighting and publishing. The biggest decision right now is whether to try and sell my project to a bigger publishing company or to self-publish with a smaller, local publishing company and then shop the book out to churches, schools, and christian book stores myself.

I really hope that James takes some good naps in the next couple of months, because I am going to be one busy Mama!
