Moving and Car Shopping

Well, it looks like we are going to be leaving Orlando a little earlier than we originally planned. I’ve spent days packing up all of our stuff and on Saturday my parents are coming to help us move out. At first, I thought that we would be able to move everything with just a couple of trips in my SUV, but it looks like we’re going to need one of those little 10’ U-Hauls after all. For months now, I’ve been giving things to Goodwill and recycling junk, but we still have a big pile of “essentials” (books, craft supplies, and sports equipment) that we’re going to have to move. We also have the real essentials (kitchen supplies, clothes, and shoes), which always seem to grow after you take them out of the cabinets.

We will be moving in with my parents for the rest of my summer semester. Around June 15th we will be taking our furniture down to the house in Lake Worth, but we won’t be living there full time until we get back from the Long Lake trip. So, if anyone wants to mail us anything, it’s still best to send it to my parent’s house or office until mid July.

As for the car…

Last week my dad was at the courthouse when a Chrysler Sebring Convertible (the same type of car Mike has) caught on fire and burned down to a blackened shell of a car. After talking with a Judge and some officers, my dad found out that this is a fairly common problem with the Sebring model and it is due to faulty fuel lines. After all of the problems that we’ve had with Mike’s car and the thousands of dollars in repairs that we’ve paid for, this was the last straw. I decided then and there that Mike’s car has to be replaced.

On Sunday, we are going car shopping. With the bad economy and all of the dealerships that are closing, there are some amazing deals out there. In fact, for many cars it is actually cheaper to get a new 2008 or 2009 model than to buy a used model. So, we think that we’ll be able to find a nice, new, safe car for Mike that fits our budget. Our goal is to find a reliable car that will get him through medical school and residency.

moving is so hard! even though you're so amazing at it! it's so weird how you look at stuff and go "oh this isn't so much stuff" and then you start packing and it just keeps growing and growing!! like the blob!

So apparently the car issue only affects the 2000 model year for the Sebring, so mine is not affected. However, Jessica and I are still going to keep looking for newer cars for a more long term solution.
